Pace Univ. football player fatally shot by cops
Pace University student Danroy Henry was shot and killed by police, early yesterday morning, the New York Daily News reports. He had driven into two cops outside a bar fight.
They were parked next to the bar. Police who responded to a call about a brawl in the parking lot knocked on his window. The cops opened fire when Henry and friends sped off in their car trying to evade a check up, hitting one officer and then another who tried to pull the first off the car.
The bullet-riddled car finally stopped when it rammed into a police vehicle; the junior defensive back was killed, and one passenger was treated for a minor gunshot wound. Henry “was such an amazing person, one of those all-around good guys who you’d never think something like this would happen to,” a friend told the New York Post. “There’s clearly a huge misunderstanding.” Police promised an “impartial investigation as to what happened.”
