In the latest of problems to strike the Commonwealth Games, thousands of condoms provided free of charge to the visiting athletes have been flushed down toilets in the athlete’s compound within the first week of competition – overwhelming the drainage system and leaving event organizers with the unpleasant task of cleaning out the pipes to get the water working.
